Frequently Asked Questions
What are the link limits for each plan?
Free plan allows 5 links, Starter plan allows 25 links, Pro plan allows 100 links, and Business plan allows up to 10,000 links. You can upgrade anytime to increase your limits.
How do custom domains work and what are the limits?
Free plan doesn't support custom domains. Starter plan allows 1 custom domain. Pro and Business plans allow unlimited custom domains. You'll need to verify domain ownership via DNS records.
What's the difference between basic and advanced analytics?
Basic analytics (Free/Starter) show click counts and referrer data. Advanced analytics (Pro/Business) add device types, browsers, and country data. Real-time auto-refresh, session tracking, and multi-facet filtering are Business-only.
Can I edit my links after creating them?
Link editing is available for Starter, Pro, and Business plans. Free plan users cannot edit links after creation. You can modify the destination URL, custom slug, and other link properties.
What is session tracking and when is it available?
Session tracking allows you to see how users interact with your links over time, including return visits and user journeys. This feature is only available on the Business plan and helps you understand user behavior patterns.
How do QR codes work and which plans include them?
QR code generation is available for Pro and Business plans. You can generate QR codes for any of your short links, perfect for offline marketing materials, business cards, and print campaigns.
What is multi-facet filtering in analytics?
Multi-facet filtering (Business plan only) allows you to filter analytics data by multiple criteria simultaneously: date ranges, device types, browsers, countries, referrers, and bot traffic. This helps you analyze specific segments of your traffic.
Can I export my analytics data?
CSV export is available for Pro and Business plans. You can export your analytics data for further analysis in spreadsheet applications or business intelligence tools.
How does real-time analytics work?
Real-time analytics (Business plan only) automatically refreshes your analytics data every 5-10 seconds, showing live click data with visual indicators. You can toggle this feature on/off and see when data was last updated.
What authentication methods do you support?
We support email magic link authentication and Google OAuth. Simply enter your email to receive a secure login link, or sign in with your Google account for quick access.
Can I use custom slugs for my links?
Custom slugs are available for Starter, Pro, and Business plans. Free plan users get randomly generated short codes. Custom slugs help create memorable, branded links like yourbrand.com/sale or yourbrand.com/product.
What happens if I exceed my plan limits?
If you reach your link or domain limits, you'll need to upgrade your plan to create more. Your existing links will continue to work normally. We'll notify you when you're approaching your limits.
Is it safe to use a link shortener?
Yes. Every link is validated before it's created and again at redirect time — only http/https destinations are allowed, so links can't be used to trigger malicious javascript: or data: URLs. Custom domains get their own automatically-renewed TLS certificate. If you want to avoid depending on a third-party shortener's domain reputation at all, our Starter plan and up let you use your own domain for every link.
Do I need to create an account to shorten a link?
Yes — every link is tied to an account, even on the free plan. That's what lets you edit the destination later, see click analytics, and delete a link if you no longer need it. A shortener that doesn't require an account has no way to let you manage what you've created afterward.
What happens to my links if I stop using Glu.Onl?
Your links keep redirecting as long as your account and plan are active, the same as any hosted shortener. Pro and Business plans include CSV export, so your click and analytics data isn't locked in. If you're on a custom domain, you control the DNS — you're not permanently tied to our infrastructure the way you are with a shared default-domain link.
Is Glu.Onl GDPR compliant?
Glu.Onl is built with GDPR-conscious defaults: a self-hosted cookie consent manager that blocks analytics scripts until you grant consent, Google Consent Mode v2, and a consent ledger that stores a salted hash of your IP address — never the raw address. GDPR compliance also depends on how you use the product, so this isn't a substitute for your own legal review.
